Criminal Minds Fic Recs

Comment: It's a gen team fic, and it's rather long, but I was simply blown away not only by the intriguing plot, but also by the spot-on characterization of the whole team. ^__^ I'm a sucker for good summary, so while it's totally unexpected of me to fall in love with the summary, I was really surprised by how engaging the fic is. Then I realize the author is actually the one who wrote In Reverse, why all-time favorite SPN gen fic, and I'm totally, completely, helplessly sold. :DDD

Comment: This is a remix of Bessemerprocess' fic Five Ways Spencer Reid Falls Down. Reid and Elle are the main characters here, and it explores what might happen once they're on the run from the FBI. Fabulous characterization, and the last two sentences in the fic is totally the killer.

Comment: This one's probably been recced to death since it's really *that* awesome, but what the hell, once more wouldn't hurt. :D  Can't tell much in the way of summary without spoiling the fic, but let me just say this fic is amazing, the narrator voice is totally believable, and the conclusion is totally unexpected it makes you crave for more :DDD

Comment: team case fic, focusing on the girls with many mentions of Reid as an honorary member :P It's fun, and the case is quite believable as well. And Emily! I actually like her here^^. Don't get me wrong, I love her in the series, but often times, fic writers tend to write her as someone who is quite...um. Suffice to say, it's rare to find fics with good characterization of Emily, and this is one of the reason why I love this fic so ^____________^

Summary:  Dark!fic. Someone in Boston is killing young men and it's disturbing Reid's dreams. (some hints of Reid/JJ on the sequel)
Comment: It's a fairy fic! :D  only darker. Much darker. And the fairies here would totally get edited out of kids' books, if you know what I'm saying. The imagery here is so stark I just..... *_____* And we get to see Reid still reeling from his experience with Hankel and trying to hide it, and JJ trying to care without being obvious about it. Also there's a bonus where JJ is being a badass in the sequel. :DDD

This fic is... I DON'T EVEN. The plot is evenly paced, in that it's not too fast, not it is too slow. I especially love the emotional stimulation this fic could bring in me. Great characterization all around, and most especially the wolfpack.

This is like, THE ULTIMATE HOUSE/CHASE FIC OMG. It's one of the first House/Chase fic ever, and one with the most interesting spot-on characterization. Chase is still awkward and cute and a passive-aggressive asshole, but in that way that would make you want to defend him, "He's an asshole, but he's our asshole." Besides, it's snarky and witty and plotty and hot and a real emotional rollercoaster and I can never be able to praise it enough.

Comment: This fic is absolutely delightful. I don't normally read gossip girl fic, but I'm glad I give this fic a chance. I have always been partial to Dan, despite all his hang-ups and whatnot in the show, so while it's not exactly hard to get me symphatize with Dan, the author's version of Dan just left me aching and wanting and generally feeling like I had a knife in my gut. Here, Dan just seemed like he was always stuck in a state of confusion that he didn't even know he was in, wanting things he didn't know he wanted until he got them, only to realize he didn't want them after all. And Chuck! I don't normally like Chuck, but here? I absolutely feel for him. In conclusion: Go read it now! :D

Gundam Wing Fic Rec: CRACK

• Difficulty: Moderate, despite lack of personal information on the subject of romantic affection. How hard can it be to get people to fall in love?

About the story:

Heero Yuy was a former Ace Pilot from The Last War who currently working as the Head Commander of The Preventer Organization, and he lived in a house together with his 4 friends that also former pilots. Heero was a very good soldier, and no one doubted his skill in piloting a Mobile Suit or his knowledge regarding computer and machine. The only problem was that he was too perfect of a soldier and too focused on his job that he didn’t have any personal life outside his job, and he also didn’t have any slightest idea how normal people who weren’t soldier spent their time. In other word, Socially Retarded.

He thought his friends were unhappy, so he asked his female co-worker what to do, and she suggested finding them girlfriends. They were still teenagers, after all. Then Heero began his quest to find his friends girlfriends, without any idea whatsoever about the matter. Chaos ensued, and poor Heero never knew that one of his friends had an affair with Heero’s female boss, two of them were gay and in love with each other, and the last one was a bisexual whose sole purpose in life seemed to make Heero’s life as difficult and miserable as possible.


Comment:

I think this story really, really hilarious as I found myself giggling helplessly when I read this. Not to mention that Heero also treated his ‘quest’ as a real mission with the plan, target, report, surveillance equipments, and all that military stuffs. Really, every time Heero almost found out the truth about his friends, there must be something happened that distracted him and unable him to find out, either it was because his boss call him, the rain suddenly poured and made the surveillance equips not working, the terrorist suddenly attacked them, their house got bombed, or something along those lines.

The funny thing is, from Heero’s point of view, it seemed like fate hated him and tried to make his mission a total failure. But instead of feeling down, he took it as a challenge and gave it all he had. Oh Heero… not everything is about facts or logics, you know… Maybe if you opened that goggled eyes of yours a little more, you would see what was in front of you…

This is actually one of a few stories that I read that ends in a happy ending, with everyone found themselves a pair… and there isn’t anyone who is dead or under pressure or complicated plot and not even any angst in the slightest! ………………… Okay, I admit, there is a little angst, but it was only a tiny bitsy little piece and you have to squint in order to see it. And the atmosphere is also very cheerful with all that happy-go-lucky people around Heero. And I agree with Heero that all of his friends are insane and he is the sanest person in the world. ^_^

Gundam Seed Destiny Fic Rec: Shinn/Cagalli

About the Story:

Cagalli Yula Athha was the Princess and the Head Representative of ORB, a small but neutral country that although always got pressures from every side because of its neutral claim, quite feared by both Earth Alliance and ZAFT-- two main organizations that led The Last War-- because of its sophisticated military equipments and its influence around the world. As the leader of a very influential country, Cagalli focused all her attention to the matter at hand, trying her best to serve her country that she didn’t even have the time for her private life.

Then entered Shinn, a former ZAFT Ace Pilot that currently working as a technician in one of ORB Military facilities. Shinn had always hated The Athha Family, because he thought they were the ones who started the last war that had destroyed his family and therefore his whole life. Although Cagalli had worked so hard to make up for her father’s mistakes, to restore everything that had been destroyed, Shinn never thought it was enough, never thought it would be enough, and he never thought he would be able to forgive The Athha Family, even when Cagalli was practically the last remaining of Athha Family.

One fateful meeting in the park on a bright summer day, and everything changed.


Comment :

At the first glance, I thought this story was just the standard ‘hatred turns into love’ story, but it turned out that this story has so much more than said standard. This story wasn’t about love or hatred; it was about sacrifice, regret, and acceptance. It was about how far someone would go to fulfill their duty, to get their revenge; it was about how much someone willing to sacrifice to protect the ones they loved.

Cagalli and Shinn, both were strong individuals that had participated in the last war. It was true that war could change people, because Shinn was no longer his cheerful and calm self he was once, and Cagalli no longer a selfish and emotional tomboyish princess she was once. Shinn had lost everything, while Cagalli had gained more than she was willing to take. After the last war, Shinn always acted selfishly and based his action on his emotions, because he had nothing to lose; while Cagalli on the other hand never showed her emotions again, always hiding behind her politician’s façade, because she had so much to lose if she so much as smile in the wrong direction.

The war was over, yet they hadn’t stopped fighting their own battles. Since the beginning, Shinn knew Cagalli wasn’t the one who was responsible for what happened in the last war, but he was blinded by rage, and he needed to lash his fury, his anger, he needed someone to blame, and there she was, the only survived member of the Athha family. He regretted everything now, but it was too late.

People always say that your enemy always knows you better than your friend. I think that saying is true, if we look at the relationship between Shinn and Cagalli. When Shinn saw Cagalli, he saw a fragile little girl that hiding behind a mask of indifference, and without even meaning to, he understood. She wouldn’t react kindly to any kind of sympathy, because it meant she was weak, and she hated being weak. It was then that he started caring about her, though he never said it aloud, and he expressed it through his wits and his scathing remarks. That was why he kept on hating her, because it was the only way he knew how to express his growing affection towards her, and it was also the only way she would be able to accept his presence; Over all, this story is really great, and kind of sweet too, although in the end it was rather sad on Shinn’s part.
